The team at JibJab (site my be down right now) have released a new video and it has been almost four years since their last election satire. It’s ushers Bush out and introduces Obama and McCain to some jibjab hazing and of course it has a appearance by the Clintons. The pokes at McCain are right on but I don’t really understand the shots at Obama. Make sure you go to the JibJab site when it is up to check out the other laugh out loud videos by them.
Shit, Piss, Fuck, Cunt, Cocksucker, Motherfucker and Tits.
The seven words that were banned on broadcast TV that made George Carlin famous has died at the age of 71. Mr. Carlin’s unique brand of irrelevant humor that was ground breaking and politically charged will always be remembered by me. My good friend Matthew, at Capitol Street just recently posted about George Carlin being awarded the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor and now he is dead.
I had to post a couple of videos of his comic stand up to pay tribute to the man.
The other day my boss at the library mentioned I may like the song “Handlebars” by Flobots. I am not a big fan of hip-hop but felt it had a interesting message of the human potential to be creative or destructive. Check it out…
I have always been more a movie buff (over 200 DVD’s and counting) then into music but that has been changing of late. While I have many musical interests, I have always liked the music of the of the 6o’s and 70’s. Where is the new generation of protest music because of the Iraq War? I know there has been a lot of music since the year 2000 that you could categorize as anti-war or pro-peace, or just plain anti-establishment but the big corporate record labels tend to suppress it.
This where I need your help in finding more examples of this kind of politically charged music. What I would like to try to do is create a thread here so myself and others can find this music. Please leave a comment (and a link preferably to the video) to share any music you think would fit the mold of what I am looking for. Thanks in advance…
Please make it Earth Day everyday and not just for today.
Here is a interesting video from Jamie, of the The Cuter Side of Politics who makes a plea for people to keep their other political agendas away from the celebration of Earth Day.
Oh yes, it’s also the Pennsylvania Democratic primary today and I hope Pennsylvanians do the right thing and end this race now. This process has dragged on long enough…
It seems “Big media” , Hillary supports, and the right wingers will not let the Reverend Wright controversy (no not “scandal”) die even after Barack Obama’s speech in which he denounced some of Wright’s inflammatory comments (again) and addressed race relations in our country.
I think the main problem besides the inherent racism that is fueling the controversy, most people have not heard the whole sermons of Rev. Wright but only the short clips which are out of context that has been provided by the media
Here is a couple of good videos on illseed found in this post that allows you to hear the whole sermon and puts the Reverend’s comments in perspective…
