Just need to look at the comics page to see we are being robbed in the government’s 700 billion bailout…

Posted by MJ on September 25, 2008

President George Bush last night in a televised plea to the American people reinforced Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson’s stance that Congress needs to pass the 700 billion government bailout proposal right now. No need to worry about oversight, the CEO golden parachutes from the companies who receive the government money, or even the details of the plan itself. The word is give us the money first and worry about all that later (maybe). Yes, the situation is real but I keep hearing that if we don’t act right this second we will lose jobs, slip into a recession, and have general market chaos. Hello!? – This has been happening for a while now!

Funny, just last week I posted that John McCain is clueless about our wrecked economy and how the markets are taking a dump and actually had number of people commenting trying to tell me the economy is just fine and/or rebounding. Some people prefer to just keep their heads in the sand I guess…

The political cartoonists know we are in a mess and that the government will rob us to bailout the greedy bastards who caused this problem. I posted couple of the better comics on the subject so check them out and then vote in my government bailout poll in the upper left corner of this page.

If any readers know any other good political cartoons about the bailout please pass them along with a link.

First, Keith Tucker of What Now?!! Cartoons weights in with a comic and animated cartoon video…

Rant – Nobody is pro-abortion and does not exist!

Posted by MJ on January 29, 2008

I was browsing the latest WordPress stories and came across a totally idiotic post. The title “Obama, the proabort” really set me off. If was just another of the increasingly negative slams against Barack Obama the emerging Democratic and Presidential front runner, it would not cause me to pause. The problem is a pro-abortion stance really does not exist…

Nobody who supports abortion rights believes it is the first option but is the last. No this not the same as when George said war in Iraq would be the last option. Why is so hard to understand that being pro-choice means that abortion can still not be a option at all for someone? The reason the pro-life crowd likes the term pro-abortion and not pro-choice is because it clouds the whole issue and helps them make their losing argument. Pro-abortion sounds more evil if not really accurate. I have been guilty of kinda the same thing when say pro-life people really are just pro-birth but that’s a another story.

I also took issue in the post using the term “radical”. Since when is someone a “radical” who supports Roe vs. Wade? It is the law of the land and the majority of the people do agree with the decision so it would not seem so “radical”.

Rant over and also like to disclose I am a recovering Catholic myself.

Support Impeachment Now!

Posted by MJ on April 26, 2007

Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) has just introduced Articles of Impeachment against Vice President Dick Cheney to Congress and this is the first step to the impeachment of George W. Bush. Big Media is not covering this well so you will hear about it here. Unfortunately, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) thinks impeachment is a waste of time. Since when do we not make criminals pay for their crimes in America? She says we need to spend our time stopping the War. I agree the War needs to be stopped but I predict the Democrats will cave in on setting a time line for troop withdraw. Let Georgie veto the spending bill already!

One organization is doing something about this.. A28 is busy coordinating groups across the nation to hold IMPEACH! rallies on Saturday April 28th. So check out their site to see whats happening in your area, donate to the cause, or post their banner on your site. I am upset will have to work this coming Saturday and will miss out. :-(

War vigil becomes educational

Posted by MJ on March 20, 2007

In my quest to become more personally involved in community activism I went to the Iraq War Anniversary Vigil held at the corner of Elmwood and West Ferry at 6:00pm today. This was organized by MoveOn.org of which I am on their mailing list and was part of the 1000’s of nationwide vigils held today for the war. Turn out was small, which was about 40 strong but could be expected because of the weather. While there was much support by cars passing by heard from the frequent horn blowing, the vigil never really got off the ground. Much of the problem was because the vigil was only scheduled to be half hour which seemed to short. But as it turns out the real event was inside the Unitarian Church at that corner.
