Time for post on the lighter side of the news if not border line stupidity. As reported by the AP and can be read here is a humorous prank turned crime of the century.
Brief recap… 1. Three CD players taped to the bottom of pews at a Catholic Church in Santa Fe were set to blare sexually explicit language during the middle of a Mass. 2. Police arrive and detonate two of the devices outside since of course could be bombs in this post 9/11 world. 3. Police save third device to “… run the full gamut” of tests including checking for fingerprints or DNA and tracing its components.
My question is how much much taxpayer money is going to be spent on which would appear to be teenager prank? Years ago there would be some shock because of the situation but the police would show up but not waste their time any further. Today we are sending in bomb squads and running DNA tests and if the perpetrators are caught surely they will see jail time. Has society come to this? I think we have more important things to worry about then distasteful teen pranks.
