High gas prices are now even hurting the oldest profession…

Posted by MJ "revoltingpawn" on July 1, 2008

Hookers double your stimulus rebate” is the new headline hitting blogs across the country and now being reported on CNN. It seems many Nevada brothels, like the world famous Bunny Ranch and the Chicken Ranch are seeing some lean times because of high gas prices. Their main customers who are truck drivers have little money left to spend on some relaxation with a lady after filling up the rig these days. While it’s sad to see the ladies earning less, they like everyone else need to and are adjusting to the new economic reality of fuel prices. So if find yourself in Nevada looking for some quick love, please help the local economy and the working ladies by taking advantage of the deals.

While this is a lighter look at high gas prices, I am thinking about a more serious post on the issue so stay tuned. In the mean time think about these questions… Who benefits the most from high gas prices? Does gas prices have less to do with supply and demand then market speculation? Why is George Bush doing nothing about high gas prices?

Video - Money as Debt

Posted by MJ "revoltingpawn" on March 31, 2008

When was the last time you thought of how money is created or monetary policy in regards to the central banking system? Sure the same as me in almost like never and the subject is also ignored in grade schools and even in the mainstream media. Paul Grignon created a excellent animated video titled “Money as Debt”. The video educates the viewer on how money really is made and the almost to simple notion that money is not represented by it’s value but our debt.

Mr. Grignon at end of video does touch on some conspiracies and takes a socialist view for solutions. If you don’t buy into those ideas please don’t let them distract from the video’s main purpose of showing how money is made and the problems of our current monetary system. I myself can see how our current money system is coming into play in regards to our coming recession. Please watch the entire video and it will get you thinking also…

One picture of what happenned to “Made in America”…

Posted by MJ "revoltingpawn" on March 23, 2008

The other day for no good reason I found myself in a Ollie’s Bargain Outlet “Good Stuff Cheap” and snapped a picture of this sign that was displayed there.

olliestore.jpg

Yes, this sign was meant to be a joke but it did get me thinking. What ever happened to made in America? I remember in the 80’s the TV commercials promoting people to buy American and logos on products proudly stating made in the USA. Local small companies will still promote made in America but corporate America has gone global enabled by free but not fair trade agreements and so is to busy destroying unions and outsourcing jobs to China to really care. It’s sad to think about really…

Maybe when the Presidential candidates are talking about their plans to help the economy they should focus more on the this concept of “Made in America” which what I mean by is job creation with good wages and benefits here once again. I would call it a people centric approach rather then a big business centric one. Band-aid programs like the tax rebate plan does nothing but allow more mindless consumption that does not really help fix the root problems in our economy.

THIS POST WAS EDITED FOR CLARITY ON 3/29.
