It’s now President Barack Obama so let us celebrate!!!
Posted by MJ on January 20, 2009

It’s now official as President Barack Obama has been sworn in and gave his inauguration speech so America and the world is celebrating for real. I am feeling so many emotions right now…happiness, pride, relief, and angry. Yes, angry toward the now former administration which lasted to long as it appears they will get away with their crimes against America but enough on that since this is a positive post on our future.
As I watch the TV just can’t get over the record millions of people who went to Washington to see this historic inauguration and all with tears of joy. President Obama already has done a lot just in giving the American people hope again. Someone on CNN pointed out that Mr. Obama promised to uphold the Constitution and it originally decreed that black people counted only as 3/5 of a person. Any doubt we have come a long way?
It will be so nice to have a President who knows how to speak the English language correctly and will not promote ideology based on fear over solutions. I like to wish President Obama much success in the coming years for our sake.
Mr. Obama will not be able to celebrate much himself since he will need to start working immediately on the many problems facing our nation. He realizes that the majority of the American people are behind him but he will have no illusions will have the traditional 100 day honeymoon for new Presidents. It’s certainly not the end of the road but the beginning it…
I do want to know if my readers are celebrating Obama’s inauguration today so please vote in my poll located in the upper left hand corner. Those that are celebrating please comment on this post and tell me how you are going about that today. Anyone who is/was in DC live for the inauguration I would like to hear about your experiences. I myself will just be hanging at home today watching TV and being on the Internet all day so while maybe boring for some I will never forget this day.

Congratulations to President Obama and the people of the US of A.
As a foreigner who wants good things to happen in any and all parts of the world, I wish Americans will work more in harmony with their president. How successful Obama can be as American president will depend on how well his fellow-Americans can rein in their demands for their expectations to be satisfied.

Not celebrating per se … I’m listening to the radio, and basically leaving that on. Other than that, it’s a normal day for me. But President Obama does enter with a clean slate, and a very different attitude.
We shall see.

People are praising this guy as if he is the greatest president of all time. So what if he is HALF black. Let him prove any greatness he might based on his job performance and based on his skin color.

We shall see what will happen. I HOPE he is up to the job but I don’t want to be audacious. More at http://www.ChangeBack.US

Nobody is praising Obama as the greatest President of all time yet nor is he popular because he is half-black. Please get a clue…

Thank you America for giving the world new hope by electing President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden.
The world looks much brighter today!

I was watching his so called Ball and his beautiful wife with such a nice dress. CNN commented very nicely about Mrs. Obama but at that moment I couldn’t help wondering why CNN or if any other media ever raised any question about the price of her dress like they did for Sarah Palin. Gees, I forgot the media is in love with president Obama so I don’t think they will ever do that.

I really don’t understand all the hype that this man got today. When Martin Luther King, Jr. gave his “I Have A Dream” speech, he specifically stated, “I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” I interpret this to say that we are not to pay attention to the fact that Barack Obama is a black man at all. I interpret it to say that instead, we are to judge him by the performance he gives in his job as president. If he does a good job, then of course, history will judge him favorably. But let’s not give him kudos yet, on his first day in office, just because he is a black man. Martin Luther King, Jr. cannot have his cake and eat it too. If he doesn’t want anyone to pay attention to the color of a black man’s skin, then let’s do as he asked, and forget it. Let’s throw the historical significance out the window. If he has character, it will show far greater than his skin color. And if he shows himself to have no character, that will show even more.

It may be possible that there is no issue with the cost of Michelle Obama’s clothes because she is known to wear inexpensive off-the-rack outfits on TV appearances no less. The outfits she wore at the inauguration and galas were from unknown designers so were relatively inexpensive also. Glad I was able to clear up your ignorance on the issue.
@Allan
Thanks for stating the obvious… People were not voting for or giving Obama kudos just because he is black. Are you joking? Barack Obama was voted in because people believed he was the best man for the job. The fact he did become the first black President is of course a big deal. It seems YOU are overly concerned about skin color so maybe it is a issue with yourself.

Allan might want to consider using a news source other than talk radio. I’ve heard everything he said from Limbaugh, Hannity, and Savage.
There’s something to be said for speaking to actual liberals instead of listening to what righties say about lefties.

Pretty much every right leaning person who comments on my blog just parrots something they heard on right wing talk radio. I rarely agree on your viewpoints but at least you usually have your own thought out opinions so I can respect you.
I have seen someone else on another blog mention the cost of Michelle Obama’s outfits just like S Josh did so it must have been a talking point on Bill O’ Reilly last night. He needs to stop telling his listeners BS because then it makes them look stupid when they comment on blogs.

Yeah … I figure that this is why I’ll never wind up back in the Republican Party. More and more, they WANT to be galvanized, they want to run out anyone not “pure” enough. While they prop up the name of Ronald Reagan, that’s exactly the opposite of what he tried to do. (The term “Reagan Democrats,” anyone?)
Even Newt Gingrich has said not to focus on the negative right now, but the babble-radio crowd is still running the campaign that it just lost. If they spend the next four years trying to run against Bill Ayers and propping up Sarah Palin, you can probably rest assured of eight years for President Obama.
I don’t think that the Republican Party has the guts to stand up to talk radio, either. The fact that most voters aren’t into it doesn’t seem to matter.

I agree 100% and keep hearing Sarah Palin’s and Mike Huckabee’s names mentioned and neither of them would be able to get 30% of vote [will mention the candidates you like can't get 2% of the vote
]. I predict if Barck Obama has just a somewhat successful administration the Republicans will not be back in the White House for 12-20 years. The Democrats will just point to what happened the last time the Republicans were in the White House and the name George Bush. The GOP needs to reinvent itself and I hope they do because a one party system will do us no good in the long term.

This criticism is almost as lame as the comment on the cost of Michelle’s inauguration and gala outfits. I will add some facts to your comment…
Bush inauguration attendance – 300,000
Obama inauguration attendance – 2,000,000 +
The Obama inauguration also had bad weather that drove up the cost because also more need for emergency services.
The taxpayer layout was the same $50 million for Bush’s as the Obama’s inauguration except there will be more money needed because of the additional emergency services. The rest of the money will come from Obama’s own campaign and private monies.
Yes, America did need a big party after eight years of the Bush administration f*cking the American people. The people were not only celebrating in DC but across the U.S. and the world.
What was Obama supposed do? Not be so popular? Blockade the city so people could not come to the inaugural to save money?
I would suggest you stop watching that FOX news…

My point wasn’t really the amount that was spent, but the headlines themselves. Now you do have to admit the media is biased. Otherwise, why would you want me to stop watching fox and watch something you agree with?

“happiness, pride, relief, and angry. Yes, angry toward”
Okay, if you want to pick on someone for not speaking the English language correctly, start by checking your own writing.
Happiness – noun
Pride – noun (or verb)
Relief – noun
Angry – adjective.
Everyone makes mistakes when talking (or writing) even our new chief justice.
I am celebrating Obama now being in office. I just HOPE he will do a good job… Only time will tell.

I was not asking you to watch something I agree with just something not as bias as Fox News which I am sure has been making a issue out of the cost of Obama’s inauguration. People seem to think mainstream media in general is “liberal” which it certainly is not and has not been for a while now if it ever was.
Sorry, the media has not been reporting Obama’s inauguration will ONLY cost $150 million so your comment was not really accurate to begin with.
I never claimed to be a English Professor but was referring to Bush’s spoken word and you dinged my written words and writing is more difficult then speaking. My written word in my opinion is still way better then George’s speaking ability.
A retarded orangutan would be step up from George Bush but we need a more then good Obama administration to fix things as they stand now.

Failed Presidency? More a failed Congress… It took most people six years into the Bush Presidency to realize he f*cked us. I am willing to give Obama at least one term to see if he can get things back on track.
I stopped blogging because of lack of time. The high ratio of dumb ass comments like yours has never inspired me to continue blogging either.
Funny, the anonymous commenter calling others cowards.

You think as a \”master\” blogger, you\’re not anonymous? I perused your site, and other than numerous misspellings and bad grammar, looks like when you were in your prime, things weren\’t going well. A complete piece of shit, void of content.
You could use the traffic, so I helped you out.
P.S. – the only one happy with Obama are toadies like you and Jimmy Carter, who can now go down as the second worst President in history. You\’re going to get your ass kicked come November. I\’ll bet you money on this blog, but working in the library probably doesn\’t pay much so you choose the value.
