“Don’t Taser Me, Bro!” – It’s been one year now…
Posted by MJ on September 18, 2008
It has been one year since University of Florida student Andrew Meyer is tasered and arrested after causing a disturbance at a town hall forum, which featured Senator John Kerry, at the UF Auditorium on Sept. 17, 2007. It’s always been my take the police were heavy handed in dealing with the student but he was so damn annoying that when you watch the video you just want him to get it.
The “Don’t taser me, Bro!” tag line became a short lived cultural icon and later a Colorado State student newspaper used the line to show their disgust with President Bush which I posted about and titled - Taser this: Fuck Bush – Yeah I just said that…
Below is the full video of the incident but you can fast forward to the good part…

Tired of political correctness and feeling sorry for the jerks that get themselves into these situations. Why would the cops get in trouble for defending themselves? That student deserved to get it. I say Taser him again just for fun. Animal control officers shouldT taser vicious animals that attack them as well. The world would be a safer place if we all would carry these weapons. All we are saying is, “give tase a chance”

The police should only use their tasers or weapons to defend themselves and this kid while annoying was not attacking the officers but in fact was trying to get way from them. This was not a self defense issue. The kid was not in the process of committing any crime and was not a danger to anyone. The officers could have removed him from the room without the use of the taser and maybe needed better training to deal with that type of situation.
Not sure what this has to do with political correctness?
I don’t think people should be carrying around tasers but pepper spray can be a valid self defense tool. Glad you don’t think more people should be carrying guns around.

The kid was out of control…bottom line. But I do think that the cops went overboard by tasing him. As MJ said, they could have removed him from the hall and restrained him. There were several cops and one dumb kid. Either way, its funny and no permanent damage done. Dumb cops, dumb kid.
@ katdog:
Why was animal control brought into this? Fortunately there are tools the animal control officers use that allow them to catch dogs with out being tased.
Sorry, but I have to question your maturity level. Glad these weapons aren’t readily available. I have the feeling you’d go “Tase-Happy”.
