First, it’s impossible to know what someone is thinking at any given moment so this statement is just an opinion. Second, the fact that the vast majority of abortions performed in this country are elective gives the strong implication that they are done as a matter of convenience.

Of course they do. Some conservatives are pro abortion too. I myself support abortion when the life of the mother is at risk and in cases of rape and incest.

I’ve never met anyone in my life who said they were in favor of killing babies in the womb… least of all a politician. I once heard the president of Planned Parenthood herself proclaim that “We are all against abortion”.

The old axiom “Actions speak louder than words” applies rather aptly here. Assuming someone isn’t a liar then if they truly don’t support abortion then they should support efforts to ristrict it.

The religious right will tell you that it’s any time after conception. At what point is it for you?

If a woman “chooses” to abort her child after she’s lost her water and just as the childs head is beginning to emerge is that something you support without any reservations?

Sorry to be so graphic but the current state of the law allows abortion right up to the point where the head fully emerges (and that’s only because it hasn’t been tested further, some have argued that the baby must draw its first breath).

And before you say those situations are rare, one doctor in Kansas performs 1,500 partial birth abortions (excuse me…) late term abortions each year.

Nope, sorry but you can’t have it both ways. One doesn’t need to directly refer to a group in order to generalize about them by implication.

If, for example, one were to substitute the words “white people” for the word “liberals” in your remark (making it “white people think, they just don’t only think about THEMSELVES”) it would be perfectly logical for the reader to assume that to be a racist comment against minorities wouldn’t it?

In any case, leaving the sentence as it stands still makes it a broad generalization (technically two) about liberals (a generalization in iteself) which, of course, was the point of my argument ITFP.

It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that if his approval rating in the US has set record lows, it ripples through out the world.
