The choice of Sarah Palin is a slap to the face of woman?
Posted by MJ on August 29, 2008
After I blogged about by initial thoughts on McCain’s choice of Sarah Palin and then posted my very successful piece on her Alaskan beauty pageant photo, I went to eat out with my girlfriend. While dinning she made a very good point on McCain’s choice of Ms. Palin and woman voters. She remarked that “McCain’s choice seems to be just a strategic one which panders to woman” and then continued with “Does John McCain think woman are this dumb?”. I replied “if he was going to pick a woman then why not someone with some type of experience and not solely based on her good looks and being a fresh face?”. Why did McCain pass on the many Republican woman who would have been qualified? John is like the old boss who hired the young good looking chick who makes a good impression at the front desk but never typed or filed. We can only hope if John McCain some how makes it to the President’s office that his heart can hold out because we would have the ultimate newbie talking over as the leader of the free world.
Barack Obama Campaign Spokesman Bill Burton responds to John McCain’s choice of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate:
“Today, John McCain put the former mayor of a town of 9,000 with zero foreign policy experience a heartbeat away from the presidency. Governor Palin shares John McCain’s commitment to overturning Roe v. Wade, the agenda of Big Oil and continuing George Bush’s failed economic policies — that’s not the change we need, it’s just more of the same.”

This strikes me as a startling choice that was not well thought out. John McCain had met Sarah Palin exactly once, last February at a Governor’s conference, before offering her the spot as his candidate for Vice President. She has won one statewide race, in which she got less than 115,000 total votes. She has no national experience and no foreign policy experience — not just “little,” none. As far as I can tell, her sole national security qualification is that, as Governor, she has the commander of the Alaska National Guard. Her positions on any number of issues are completely unknown. Relatively few people outside of Alaska had ever heard of Sarah Palin before today. Sen. McCain is asking me and every other American voter to vote for her as the Vice President of the United States in less than 10 weeks from today.
This is beyond “bold.” This is risky and reckless.

It is bold and reckless to vote for someone with absolutely no experience. Thus, a vote for Obama the greenhorn is the risky, reckless choice. Sarah Palin has vetoed more bills than any other candidate. She has executed the laws of government more than any other candidate. She has responsibly structured budgets which responsibly reduced wasteful spending more than any other candidate. Even if McCain drops dead on day one, Palin as president will be a success, as we will have avoided the succession of the least qualified candidate (Obama) to office.

Gasp! A politician – pandering! Say it isn’t so!
I think it’s a VERY interesting choice. To me it means not a single Republican oldtimer would survive the Clinton Enemies List or Obama campaign driven media onslaughts – Replublicans have too many gay/pedophile/Enron/Exxon/Iraq skeletons in their closets.
(In politics it’s almost a job requirement to have something in your past that rich folk can extort/bribe you for.)
Palin, on the other hand, is too green for skeletons. Also, the Powers That Be have been wanting to make the 2008 election a race vs. gender media circus and BY GOD they will have their circus!
Also, she’s a “real” conservative. This is important because of course McCain is not, and ALSO – and this is important – McCain is a very ill man. As in, TERMINAL. How the McCain campaign office and the media thinks it can hide this from us is beyond me. A vote for McCain is actually a vote for Palin because I don’t think McCain is going to be on this earth (either physically or mentally) for much longer.
Another thing to look at before making your choice is which machines are BEHIND the candidates, because the Shadow Government is really the one running the show and our politicians, Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich possibly excepted, are merely actors.
Obama’s puppeteers come from the Trilateralist crowd. That means Rockefeller, Brzezinski, etc., but especially Brzezinski, who’s a member of Obama’s cabinet advising on foreign policy matters.
McCain is getting significant – and possibly foreign/illegal – financial and strategic backing from the Neocons/Israelis and Rothschild crowds. The Rothschilds are based mainly out of Europe and pretty much run everything behind the scenes over there.
The Rockefeller/Rothschild split in the Shadow Government is pretty well known but honestly: We never voted for any of those clowns, and at the end of the day they’re not THAT different. How bout this: Choose the faction the least likely to KILL us with their stupid wars. And don’t presume: Brzezinski is a scary scary man. HE is one of the main reasons our focus has shifted from the Middle East to Russia.

Palin and her “family” credentials look good on paper and to the “eyes” of the voters. I have read too often that Obama is the “least qualified” candidate. Why didn’t any of the Republicans that voted for George W. Bush eight years ago raise questions about his “lack of experience.” Remember he came from being a Major League Baseball owner to Texas Governor to President of the United States in less than four years. So pleas stop referring to Obama as the “least qualified” candidate; as well as Palin! If you Republicans voted for an “inexperienced” candidate before, why are you fearing voting for a possibly “inexperienced” candidate again in Obama.
Tell the truth behind your motives for voting for candidates. Release your true fears and cleanse your politically ignorant souls. Everyone knows that McCain is not a very intelligent man. Yes he is a true Veteran and it was due to his father’s “connections” that got him into politics, but he does not make Republicans, Democrats nor Independents a sense of confidence in his leadership and decision making ability. He barely completed college. He cheated on his wife and obtained a marriage certificate to the current wife before signing the divorce papers. Smart Man.
I am for choosing the best qualified candidate, but “qualified” doesn’t always mean “quantified.” Years on the job does not make you a leader. There are many young and talented individuals in history that have lead empires with outstanding results. McCain has always been a follower. To be honest, I would prefer Palin versus Obama than McCain vs. Obama.
We all know that he supported George W.’s reckless and inefficient war in Irag at a cost of “$10 Billion Dollars” per month. Think of what this money can do for millions of American children in need of a quality education and healthcare benefits. It’s wasteful and crippling lives in America. He does not make sound decisions. Period. However, many are willing to turn over the country to another lobbyist puppet named McCain. His judgment for running mate may be the only “stroke of genius” that McCain will have in his life. That and marrying his wealthy mistress!

You seem to a victim of using FOX News for information. Obama is a greenhorn and not Ms. Palin???
A copy and paste comment of mine from the previous post to help enlighten you on the records of Obama and Ms. Palin…
“Yes, Obama was a community organizer and Ms. Palin was entering beauty contests. Obama got his degrees at Columbia and Harvard Law School (was President of his class) and Sarah earned her degree at the University of Idaho (sure a fine school). Obama was a State legislator for 8 years while Sarah baby sat a town of 6,500. Obama is now a senator in Congress but Ms. Palin is a Governor of a third tier state. Who has more and better experience?”
Everyone else I am very impressed at your well thought out comments on this thread so thank you.

Palin is the best choice made for the VP slot, what does barack HUSSEIN obama have? another sentator. Also think about it, B.Hussein Obama has been a senator for 3.5 yrs, but has spent almost 2 years of that campaigning for President!!! what a joke for a nominee!

why is everyone not mentioning B.Hussein Obama’s middle name???? cause it sounds toooo muslim for most Americans and thats what liberals cater to.

Nobody mentions middle names of anyone – friends, family, or politicians in the normal course of conversation. That’s because most people don’t care. The only ones I see mention Obama’s middle name are ignorant people like yourself that can’t think of any thing intelligent to say. You proved it in your second comment by saying liberals carter to Muslim people??? No idea how you would even come to that conclusion. It does not matter since Obama is not Muslim so his middle name of Hussein is not relevant.

The reason that some feel this way about Palin is because Mac went outside the norm to pick someone that was not connected to all the Washington deadbeats and entrenched political hacks. Bama picked someone from the pool of the past and Mac picked someone that is a real bridge to the future. America is ready for a woman in a place of leadership, but the right woman. Palin is right, fresh, energetic, and well spoken. Bill Burton is wrong. The pick of Joe Biden as a VP is more of the same.

Ummmm No… Most people against the pick of Sarah Palin are not Washington insiders say like myself. People are turned off by her inexperience, being anti-choice, anti-sex eduction, pro-creationism in schools, supporting oil drilling, and pro-war with Iraq before the invasion. Obama has only been in Washington two years and was not the choice of the Democratic leaders before the primaries so he is not not really a insider himself say like McCain who has been in Washington over 30 years. I preferred that Obama picked a new face myself but he was probably smart to pick a insider since would help him when in the Oval Office. Bill Clinton did the same thing in picking Al Gore because he was a even more a outsider when he ran.
The argument that Ms. Palin will clean up Washington is ridiculous. She will not have a say or decision making power like Dick Cheney in a McCain administration. She is just being used to rally the far right conservative Christian block of the party and that’s all.

I THINK THE PROBLEM WOMEN HAVE WITH THE SELECTION IS THAT IN A SENSE THEY HAVE A SREAK OF JEALOUSY IN THEM.
SHE IS A WOMAN OF GREAT EXPERIENCE AND VERY WELL EDUCATED WHICH MOST WOMEN DON’T HAVE THOSE CREDENTIALS.
SARAH WILL MAKE A GREAT LEADER WITH THE EXPERIENCE SHE HAS AND WILL BE ABLE TO HELP CLEAN UP WASHINGTON BECAUSE SHE WILL GO INTO BLIND SO TO SPEAK AND SHE SEE’S SOMETHING THAT IS NOT RIGHT SHE CAN MAKE HER MOVE TO ELIMINATE THAT SITUATION.{IN THIS CASE IT IS GOOD TO BE AN OUTSIDER}.
SARAH PALIN IS VERY CAPABLE SO DO NOT COUNT HER OUT AS NOT BEIN CAPABLE OF DOING THE JOB SHE IS ELECTED TO DO.
THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING JOHN McCAIN FOR PRESIDENT AND SARAH PALIN FOR HIS VICE PRESIDENT.
YOU WILL NOT BE SORRY WITH YOUR SELECTION FOR THESE TWO WILL LEAD US OUT OF THE CRISIS WE ARE NOW IN AND ANY THAT WILL ARISE IN THE FUTURE.

We finally have someone who actually says what she means. She does have a bachelor’s degree in communications and journalism and minor in politics. Despite what some may think, most of us could care less how well someone articultes their words. Senator Obama speaks and articulates but he didn’t speak with any clarity about any issues. I listened to the presidential debate last night and he still didn’t clear the air about his associations with Bill Ayers, Acorn or his political stand on partial birth abortion. He knows how to dance around the issues. If that is what you’re referring to as intelligent or more qualified then that is scary. Do you really care about isssues????

No, woman are not jealous of Sarah Palin and the problem is she does not support most woman issues. No, she does not have a lot of experience and her education is very average. The rest of your comment was just nonsense. Anyone ever tell you it’s not cool to write in all CAPS on the internet?
@Rhonda Stratton
Was your comment a joke? Sarah Palin speaks with clarity and Obama does not? Did you not catch her interviews with Charlie Gibson or Katie Couric? Her debate? How many times has she responded to a question with five minutes of just nonsense and/or ignore the question totally? Maybe you have problems understanding Obama because not every statement he utters could be a bumper sticker slogan or does not use the word “also” ever other sentence?
Sorry, Obama’s whole campaign has been about the issues while McCain’s has been about attacking Obama. Maybe you should be following the race?
@MARY DOWNING
What does the fact that none of us have been elected Governor or balanced a state budget have to do with anything? Sarah Palin is not being compared to myself or the readers of this blog but past Vice-Presidents and Joe Biden.
I see this post is listed as a related post to a FOX News item so appears will see a influx of uninformed and ignorant type comments. The Kool Aid is strong these days from there…
