Video - Barack Obama’s complete “A More Perfect Union” Speech and my thoughts…

This is the best speech I have heard in a long time and can be compared to famous speeches by the likes of John F. Kennedy and Dr. Martin Luther King. I think Obama has answered all the questions about him in regards to the race card, black churches, and the Rev. Jeremiah Wright. He is right on about our shared history of racial problems and that we have made progress but there is more to achieve yet. It is so refreshing to see a true leader who is a statesman and not a mere politician who can speak the truth without preaching to you and wants to unite instead of divide us. Yes, I am contrasting him to George Bush…
This is a very personal speech for Obama and understand he wrote it himself. Hoping teachers will show this speech in their classrooms tomorrow for their students since I believe it will prove to be history making on Obama’s path to the Presidency.

The right isn’t going to be satisfied with this no matter what, but I think Obama handled this about as well as anyone could. Hannity and Co. will continue to try to club him over the head with Wright for awhile longer, but for all intents and purposes, this speech put it to rest and left them without a whole lot to beat him with.

I’m not sold on this notion that this speech was ‘one for the ages.’
Kennedy and King outlined visions for the future and how to get there - and even why.
Obama esentially told the American people that in order to solve the race issue in this country (if one assumes it is even solvable), that white America must simply accept Afirmative Action on its face, tolerate Rev. Wright’s comments because he is a gaded product of 1960’s racism, and overlook the fact that he (Obama) will not distance himself from the very racism, in the form of Wright, that he in fact claims to despise.
I support Obama, and have for months. But this specch was nothing more than above average oratory - I’ll give him that. A vision for healing race relation? I can’t jump on that wagon.

Matthew…
If I didn’t know you personally I would think your comment was from a FOX News reporter. LOL Sorry, I guess we disagree on this.
Check out my post on Monday and maybe you will change your mind on the whole “controversy”.
